How often should I service my HVAC system?

It’s recommended to service your HVAC system at least once a year – ideally in spring for cooling and fall for heating – to ensure efficiency and longevity.

How often do I need to change my air filters?

Air filters are an essential part of your HVAC system, trapping dust, pet dander, pollen and other airborne particles to protect the vital components of your HVAC system from damage and wear. In general, most air filter manufacturers and HVAC companies recommend changing the air filter every 3 months. Inspect your filters every month and make the determination based on how dirty they are.

Do you need a license to work on heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems?

Yes. New Jersey requires a licensed master HVAC-R contractor for heating, cooling and refrigeration work. Alfano Mechanical is fully licensed (NJ Master HVAC-R License 19HC00498600) and insured, and our technicians are EPA-certified to handle refrigerants.

Do you offer rebates or financing for new installations?

Yes. As a PSE&G Trade Ally, we apply PSE&G rebates on qualifying equipment, including the Direct Install program for eligible businesses and instant rebates with 0% on-bill repayment for homeowners. How can I improve my HVAC system’s energy efficiency?

You can make your HVAC system more energy efficient by scheduling regular maintenance, changing your air filters frequently, installing a smart or programmable thermostat, improving your insulation, and sealing your heating and cooling ducts, among other things.
